Alta Linea Continua
Concept
Alta Linea Continua is first of all a concept, and the route that results from it emerges by constraining the concept with reality.
The idea is to explore a geographical area by tracing through it the highest possible continuous line. Constraints are given by the technical difficulty of the terrain, the presence of water sources, the need for re-supply. The realization of such a traverse merges skills from the worlds of through hiking and mountaineering, and the same idea can concretize in widely different routes depending on the person living it: ALC is thus an invite to imagine a deeply personal way to interpret the mountains and the possibility to explore them with curiosity as a guide.
For us, ALC also represents a perpetual attempt at increasing how comfortable we feel navigating the mountains, by forcing ourselves to be deepely uncomfortable. As harsh as this learning process may sound, it has rewarded us with truly special moments of growth.
By publishing our journey, we hope to welcome feedback into our ever-evolving way to live the mountains, and to encourage people to join us in the research of a personal and constructive way to frequent the outdoors.
